Practicalities

Conference venue:

 LUISS University of Rome – Viale Romania 32 (Tram and Bus Stop: Piazza Ungheria):

Few words about the location

The conference takes place mainly in the second building you can see on your right after the main entrance, from Viale Romania 32. In this building, the ‘first floor’ indicates the basement, and the ‘second floor’ is the ground floor.

Notice that rooms are at different floors. Room 101, 103 and 104 are on the basement, while room 203 (the one for keynote lectures) is on the first floor, and room 304 is on the second floor. Room 103 will be the catering room, where you’ll find the box lunches on July 5th and 6th. On July 7th  catering will happen in the Canteen patio. The Welcome reception and the social dinner will be held respectively in the front garden (in front of Villa Heritz) and in the Aula Chiesa.

The easiest way to reach the main building and the rooms of the Conference is to enter through the main gates on Viale Romania 32, opposite to the entrance of the Carabinieri barracks.

Upon entrance, you will find the Aula Chiesa building on your right. Go on leaving it on your left, and take the stairs of the next building. You’ll enter the first floor.

However, Bob Goodin’s keynote lecture on July 5th will be held in a different room, called ‘Aula polivalente’. It’s behind the Aula Chiesa. You should head alongside the left side of the Aula Chiesa building, until you reach a small entrance on your right. Go on, and turn right. You’ll see a small building, Radio Luiss, leave it on your left, and there are small metal stairs. This is the rear entrance of the Aula Polivalente.

Airport(s):

Rome has two airports:

Trains:

Rome can easily be reached by train – in particular, the Frecce and Alta velocità routes stop at Roma Termini. See here: https://www.lefrecce.it/B2CWeb/search.do?parameter=changeLanguage&cFID=PMbAJ6G4yeI1&lang=en&

Rome is a big city, but accommodation close to the conference venue is quite limited, especially in June. We therefore strongly recommend booking accommodation in advance. Participants should book their own accommodation directly.

Tourism: sightseeing and leisure 🙂

This will be a crowded Conference. But you may find time to visit Rome, especially if it is your first time here. As you know, there are some musts for newcomers, but the city is too well-known and big to give uncontroversial tips. So, here’s a list of websites where bloggers, correspondents for international newspapers and other ‘experts’ give their thoughts:
